What You Will Learn

This course covers the fundamentals of using SolidWorks for beginners. You will learn to navigate the software and create designs step by step.

Core Topics Included:

Week 1: Basics of SolidWorks Interface & Sketching

• Understand the SolidWorks interface and file creation basics.

• Explore the sketch environment and learn to use basic sketch tools like line, circle, rectangle, trim, and offset.

• Practice using the Smart Dimension tool and learn the concept of fully defined sketches.

• Draw simple shapes such as a square plate, a circle with a hole, and a basic 2D profile.

Week 2: 3D Features (Core Modeling Tools)

• Learn to convert 2D sketches into 3D models using features like Extrude Boss/Base, Extrude Cut, and Revolve Boss/Base.

• Understand how to apply Fillet and Chamfer to shapes.

• Create simple 3D parts including a bolt-like shape, a simple bracket, and a cylindrical shaft with a cut.

Week 3: Intermediate Modeling + Modifications

• Learn design editing and control using the Mirror feature and Circular Pattern.

• Use the Shell tool and Hole Wizard for creating complex shapes.

• Explore reference geometry and practice editing sketches and features.

• Create a box with a shell, a perforated plate, and a symmetrical part using mirror.

Week 4: Assembly & Basic Drawing

• Understand how to combine parts using mate constraints such as coincident, concentric, and distance mate.

• Learn to create basic assemblies and drawings, including front, top, and side views.

• Practice dimensioning and using title blocks in drawings.

• Assemble a bolt and nut model and a simple mechanical linkage.

• Create a drawing of any 3D part.

Learning Progression:

The course starts with basic sketching and progresses to advanced modeling techniques and assemblies. You will build your skills gradually, moving from simple shapes to more complex designs and assemblies.
