Understanding the chessboard: ranks, files, and coordinates
How each piece moves and captures
Rules of the game: castling, en passant, promotion, and checkmate
Introduction to chess notation
2. Opening Principles & Strategy
Key opening principles: development, center control, king safety
Understanding and practicing basic openings (e4, d4 systems, and more)
Common traps and how to avoid them
Developing an opening repertoire for white and black
3. Middle Game Mastery
Planning and strategy in the middle game
Piece coordination and positional understanding
Tactical motifs: forks, pins, skewers, discovered attacks, double attacks
How to launch attacks and defend effectively
Transitioning to the endgame
4. Endgame Techniques
Basic checkmates: King & Queen vs King, King & Rook vs King
Pawn endings and opposition
Lucena and Philidor positions
Common endgame principles to convert advantage into wins
5. Logical & Tactical Puzzles
Solving themed puzzles to improve calculation
Pattern recognition exercises
Progressive difficulty: 1-move, 2-move, and 3-move tactics
Daily puzzle solving and review
6. Game Analysis & Improvement
Analyzing famous classic games for insight
Reviewing students’ own games to spot mistakes and strengths
