Week 1: Linux Basics & File Management

Day 1 – Introduction

  • Linux distributions & RHEL

  • RHCSA exam objectives overview

  • Basic Linux commands (ls, pwd, cd, man)

Day 2 – File & Directory Management

  • cp, mv, rm, mkdir, rmdir

  • Wildcards, relative & absolute paths

Day 3 – Viewing & Editing Files

  • cat, less, head, tail

  • Text editors: nano, vim basics

Day 4 – Users & Groups

  • useradd, passwd, usermod, groupadd

  • /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow, /etc/group

Day 5 (Lab) – Practice basic commands, file permissions


Week 2: Permissions, Process & Package Management

Day 6 – File Permissions

  • chmod, umask, chown, chgrp

  • Special permissions: SUID, SGID, Sticky Bit

Day 7 – Processes & Jobs

  • ps, top, htop, kill, jobs, bg, fg

  • System monitoring basics

Day 8 – Package Management

  • dnf/yum basics

  • Enable/disable repos, install/remove packages

Day 9 – Systemd & Services

  • Enable, start, stop, restart services

Day 10 (Lab) – Package installation + systemctl exercises


Week 3: Storage & File Systems

Day 11 – Partitions & File Systems

  • lsblk, fdisk, parted

  • Mounting & unmounting

Day 12 – Filesystem Management

  • mkfs, xfs_growfs, resize2fs

  • /etc/fstab permanent mounts

Day 13 – LVM (Logical Volume Manager)

  • Create PV, VG, LV

  • Resize & extend LV

Day 14 – Swap & Encrypted Volumes

  • Create & enable swap partition/file

  • Basic cryptsetup for encrypted partitions

Day 15 (Lab) – Partition + LVM hands-on


Week 4: Networking, Security & Boot

Day 19 – Scheduled Tasks

Week 5: Advanced Topics & Final Prep

  • tar, gzip, bzip2, xz

  • Backup & restore basics

Day 22 – SSH & Remote Access

  • Configure sshd

  • Key-based authentication

Day 23 – Containers Basics

  • Podman, managing containers & images

  • Running apps inside containers

  • Recover root password
